Bio:
Tanya began bartending at a tender age to support her snowboarding habit. Over
the years, tending bar surreptitiously transformed from a means to an end for her,
and the love and respect of the craft began it’s unrelenting takeover. In 2005, after
earning her Sommelier Diploma through ISG, Tanya enjoyed a year working at the
Bearfoot Bistro in Whistler both behind the bar and on the floor as a sommelier.
After relocating to Vancouver to pursue an engineering degree at UBC, Tanya found
herself behind Maenam’s bar, exploring a spectacular new spectrum of flavors.
Collaborating with Ben DeChamplain to design the occasional creation for Maenam’s
cocktail list has been both a pleasure and a treasured creative outlet for Tanya, who
now spends the majority of her time studying physics and math. Cocktail Kitchen
will be the first competition for Tanya, and she looks forward to amplifying her
engagement with Vancouver’s bar community.
