Just over a decade ago Colin MacDougall moved from his native home of Nova Scotia to Banff, Alberta to pursue his love of mountaineering and the outdoors.  After becoming certified in climbing he joined the Rimrock Resort Hotel and he quickly became enamored with the hospitality industry. There, his enthusiasm for food and drink began to grow over the next few years.

Since then his career path has led him through Fiji, Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia, and their prestigious bars and restaurants, before heading back to Canada and landing in Vancouver. Colin landed on his feet joining the pristine team at West restaurant in 2007 and soon became the assistant bar manager with libation alchemist David Wolowidnyk. Their team created award winning cocktails over the next two years until the buzz of Yaletown’s Blue Water Cafe + Raw Bar drew him in to a larger, higher volume room where he is currently enjoying the new challenges as the assistant bar manager.

At Blue Water Cafe + Raw Bar he is very grateful to be part of another team who run one of Vancouver’s most progressive and celebrated restaurants. As assistant bar manager, Colin contributes to the pristine cocktail, spirit, beer and the nearly 200 bottles whiskey selection. His ambition and passion is to assist guests in discovering new and unique food and drink combinations in a relaxing and inviting environment.
